An incoming domain transfer changes the current registrar of your domain to Enom. Once a transfer completes, the domain's registration is active with Enom, and you can manage its DNS settings, contact information, and renewals from your account. This article covers transfer pricing, how to initiate and track a transfer, preventing downtime, and canceling a transfer.
Note: If you want to move your domains between Enom accounts, you do not need to perform a domain transfer.
Before you begin
- Unlock the domain at your current registrar.
- Obtain the EPP transfer authorization code from your current registrar.
Transfer pricing and renewal policy
The cost of transferring domains to Enom is typically equal to a one-year renewal price. For most extensions, the domain's expiration date is also extended by one year once the transfer completes. You can verify the total price during checkout.
Warning: If your domain recently expired and you renewed it, wait 46 days before beginning the transfer. If you transfer a domain before then, an additional year is not added to its expiration date, and you are still charged a transfer fee.
The following domain extensions, when transferred in, will only renew if they are 90 days or less from their expiration date:
| .aaa.pro | .ac | .aca.pro | .acct.pro | .ang.pro | .avocat.pro | .bar.pro | .ch |
| .co.nz | .co.uk | .com.au | .com.es | .com.pe | .com.sg | .cpa.pro | .es |
| .jur.pro | .law.pro | .li | .ltd.uk | .me.uk | .med.pro | .net.au | .net.nz |
| .nl | .nom.es | .org.au | .org.es | .org.nz | .org.uk | .plc.uk | .pro |
| .recht.pro | .sg | .sh | .uk | .移动 (xn--6frz82g) |
Step 1: Initiate the domain transfer
Before initiating the transfer, ensure your domain has been unlocked and you have received the EPP transfer authorization code. Your current registrar can assist you with this.
- Under the menu option Domains, select Transfer domains followed by Transfer a domain.
- By default, the form is set to a single domain transfer. If you are transferring multiple domains, select Bulk transfer.
For a single domain transfer, enter the domain name you want to transfer, followed by the EPP transfer authorization code. Click Continue to finish checking out and begin the transfer.
- For a bulk domain transfer, enter one domain per line, followed by a comma and its EPP transfer authorization code. Click Continue to finish checking out and begin the transfer.
Optional transfer settings
Select View additional settings to access the following optional transfer settings.
| Setting Name | Description |
| Add ID protect | Adds Enom's WhoIs masking service, ID Protect, to the domain for an additional charge. |
| Transfer verification | Auto-verification should be selected in most cases, where your registrar sends you a transfer approval email. Fax transfers can be used if the transfer contains a large number of domains. |
| Auto-renew | Sets the domain to attempt to renew automatically 30 days before its expiration. This can be changed at any time in your account once the transfer completes. |
| Registrar-lock | If enabled, prevents the domain from being transferred away once it is in your account. This can be changed at any time in your account once the transfer completes. |
| Domain password | Setting this optional password allows you to log into a domain control panel at access.enom.com. |
Step 2: View pending transfer order status
- Under the menu option Domains, select Transfer domains followed by My transfers.
- Enter the domain name of your transfer order and click Submit.
- Select the corresponding Transfer order ID.
- View the current transfer status message at the bottom of the Transfer order details.
Preventing website and email downtime during the transfer
Before initiating a transfer, check with your current registrar to ensure you are not using their nameservers, as they might terminate DNS services as soon as a transfer begins, causing your website and email to go offline.
By using third-party nameserver services like the Enom DNS hosting service at an additional cost, your website and email services continue to function without downtime.
If you purchase Enom DNS hosting, copy the domain's current records in place at your domain registrar and add them to your DNS host records. Next, where your domain name is currently registered, point its nameservers to the default Enom nameservers. Only initiate the transfer once 24 to 48 hours have passed after changing nameservers, to allow the update to take effect.
Canceling incoming transfers
- Under the menu option Domains, select Transfer domains followed by My transfers.
- Enter the domain name of your transfer order and click Submit.
- Select the corresponding Transfer order ID.
- To cancel the order, click the Cancel this order link.
Funds for a failed or canceled transfer are released automatically back to your payment method within 48 to 72 hours.
