Incoming domain transfers

An incoming domain transfer is a process of changing the current registrar of your domain to Enom. Once a transfer completes, the domain's registration will be active with Enom, and you will have the ability to manage its DNS settings, contact information, and renewals within your account. 

Note: If you want to move your domains between Enom accounts, you do not need to perform a domain transfer.

Transfer pricing and renewal policy

The cost of transferring domains to Enom is typically equal to a one-year renewal price. The domain's expiration date will also be extended by one year once the transfer completes for most domain extensions. You will have the opportunity to verify the total price during the checkout process. 

Important: If your domain recently expired and you renewed it, wait 46 days before beginning the transfer. If you transfer a domain before then, an additional year will not be added to its expiration date, and you will still be charged a transfer fee.

The following is a list of domain extensions that when transferred in will only renew if they are 90 days or less from their expiration date:

Initiating the domain transfer

Before initiating the transfer, ensure your domain has been unlocked and you have received the EPP transfer authorization code. Your current registrar will be able to assist you with this.

1. Under the menu option Domains, select Transfer domains followed by Transfer a domain.
   
2. By default, it will be set to Single domain transfer if you are transferring multiple domains, select Bulk transfer.
   
   
   • For a single domain transfer, enter the domain name you would like to transfer, followed by the EPP transfer authorization code. Click Continue to finish checking out and begin the transfer.
     
   • For a bulk domain transfer, enter one domain per line, followed by a comma and its EPP transfer authorization code. Click Continue to finish checking out and begin the transfer.
     

You may view some optional transfer settings by selecting View additional settings.

Viewing pending transfer orders status

1. Under the menu option Domains, select Transfer domains followed by My transfers.
   
2. Enter the domain name of your transfer order and click Submit.
3. Select the corresponding Transfer order ID.
4. View the current transfer status message at the bottom of the Transfer order details.

Preventing website and email downtime during the transfer

Before initiating a transfer, check with your current registrar to ensure you are not using their nameservers as they might terminate DNS services as soon as a transfer is begun, causing your website and emails to go offline.

By using third-party nameserver services like the Enom DNS hosting service at an additional cost, your website and email services will continue to function without any downtime.

If purchasing Enom DNS hosting, you will need to copy the domain's current records in place at your domain registrar and add them to your DNS host records. Next, where your domain name is currently registered, point its name servers to the default Enom nameservers.

Only initiate the transfer once 24-48 hours pass after changing nameservers to allow the update to take effect.

Canceling incoming transfers

1. Under the menu option Domains, select Transfer domains followed by My transfers.
   
2. Enter the domain name of your transfer order and click Submit.
   
3. Select the corresponding Transfer order ID.
   
   
4. To cancel the order, click the Cancel this order link.
   

The funds for a failed or canceled transfer will be released automatically back to your payment method within 48-72 hours.
