After you submit a CSR for a domain-validated certificate, the certificate authority (CA) sends an approval email to verify that you control the domain. If that email is lost or never arrives, you can have it resent. Whether you can resend it yourself or need Enom Support depends on the CA.
How approval emails work
The approval email is sent to an address chosen during the certificate request, and the CA generates the list of allowed approval addresses — you cannot use an arbitrary address. Allow up to one hour for a resent approval email to arrive.
If you cannot receive mail at any of the available approval addresses, you can request DNS-based validation instead (a host record added to your domain's DNS). Contact Enom Support to switch the approval method.
Step 1: Resend the approval email (self-serve)
For GeoTrust, RapidSSL, and DigiCert certificates, you can resend the approval email directly from your account:
- Log in to your account and navigate to Security > SSL Certificates > Manage.
- Choose the certificate you want the approval email resent for.
- Select the Resend approval email link at the top of the page.
It can take up to one hour for the email to arrive. Check the spam or junk folder of the approval address before requesting another resend.
Step 2: Request a resend for Sectigo certificates
For Sectigo certificates, the resend is not self-serve. Contact Enom Support and ask the team to resend the approval email for your certificate. Including the certificate's Order ID helps Support locate it quickly.
Per-CA resend behavior
Certificate authority | Resend method |
|---|---|
| DigiCert | Self-serve from the certificate's page (Resend approval email). |
| GeoTrust | Self-serve from the certificate's page (Resend approval email). |
| RapidSSL | Self-serve from the certificate's page (Resend approval email). |
| Sectigo | Contact Enom Support to have it resent. |
Next steps
- Once the domain is approved, you will receive the certificate files by email. Continue with Getting Started with Your SSL Certificate.
- If approval emails still will not work, ask Enom Support about DNS-based validation.
