Set Up Two-Factor Authentication for Your Enom Account

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an optional setting that adds a layer of account security. It uses an app on your smartphone to generate a dynamic security code that you enter when you log in. With 2FA enabled, anyone trying to access your account needs your login ID, your password, and access to your device. This article explains how to enable, use, and disable 2FA.

How two-factor authentication protects your account

When 2FA is active, your password alone is not enough to sign in. Each login also requires a time-based code from your authenticator app, so a stolen password cannot be used without your device. Enom also provides backup codes you can use if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Before you begin

  • An authenticator app. Download a 2FA authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, to your smartphone before you start.

Step 1: Enable 2FA

Pair your authenticator app with your Enom account, then save your backup codes.

  1. Log in to your account and select My Account in the top right, then Account Settings.
  2. Select the Two-Step Verification tab.
  3. Create a nickname for your smartphone, then click Add Device.
  4. Open the authenticator app on your phone and scan the QR code.
  5. Enter the 6-digit verification code displayed in your app and click Verify Code to finish.
  6. Once 2FA is enabled, click Show Backup Codes and print or save these codes in a safe place.

Note: If you cannot scan the QR code, click the Problems with QR code? link and add the secret key shown on screen into your authenticator app manually.

Warning: If you lose your phone or access to the authenticator app and cannot log in, your backup codes are the only way to disable 2FA. Store them somewhere safe.

Step 2: Log in with 2FA enabled

Once 2FA is active, each login requires a code from your authenticator app.

  1. Enter your login ID and password, then click Login.
  2. Enter the 6-digit security code shown in your authenticator app and click Login.

Step 3: Disable 2FA

If you no longer want to use 2FA, disable it from the same tab.

  1. Log in to your account and select My Account in the top right, then Account Settings.
  2. Select the Two-Step Verification tab.
  3. Click the Disable button. You will no longer be prompted for the security code when signing in.

Next steps

  • Add account validation. Pair 2FA with validation questions in your account settings for layered security.
  • Keep your backup codes safe. Store them separately from your phone so you can regain access if your device is lost.
